A CUP FOR A CAUSE: Special Fundraiser In Honor of Renee Good

At DACHA, home means belonging — to our heritage, to each other, and to the values that guide us through moments that matter most.

Since we opened our doors, Borsch & Beats has been our monthly fundraiser supporting Ukrainian humanitarian relief — a reflection of the Eastern European culture and community that inspire our food, music, and spirit. These events also reflect our guiding principle of ‘Feeding with Love. Leading with Peace’.

Right now, many in our communities are carrying deep grief, fear, and outrage — in Ukraine, under attack from russian aggression, and here at home, as family after family lives with the threat of separation, detention, or worse. The tragic killing of Renee Good has underscored how urgently we must stand together against violence and injustice targeting immigrants and people of color.

As a queer-owned space rooted in solidarity and mutual care, we believe that culture and community go hand in hand with justice and protection — whether that means supporting those under fire overseas or standing up for immigrant families and neighbors here at home.

For this month’s Borsch & Beats, DACHA will donate a portion of the proceeds from every bowl or cup of borsch to both:

• The Immigration Institute of the Bay Area — providing legal services, education, and advocacy for immigrant communities in California; and

• Misto Dobra — delivering humanitarian aid to women and children impacted by the war in Ukraine.

This dual focus reflects who we are:

A welcoming space for all, shaped by Eastern European tradition, rooted in queer community care, and committed to showing up — near and far — when our people need it most.
